Earlier this month, UND’s Nistler College of Business & Public Administration’s student sales team placed first at the Northeast Intercollegiate Sales Competition.

Hosted by Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island, the competition featured more than 300 students representing 40 universities.

Robert Warren, sales team advisor and instructor in the Department of Marketing, praised the team’s success.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the team and its accomplishments,” he said. “Their records exceeded my expectations. They worked well together and were constantly encouraging and supporting each other.”

Individually, the UND sales team had impressive finishes in both the role play and speed sales categories. Individual performances further cemented the team’s reputation. Whitney Mumm, a senior marketing and sales student and president of the sales team, earned a second-place finish in the highly competitive role-play segment, outperforming hundreds of peers.

Reflecting on her experience, Mumm said, “This weekend was one of the most rewarding experiences of my time at UND. Placing second out of 300 students was an incredible honor and a moment I will never forget.

“As president of the team, getting to watch our team grow and perform at this level was so incredible and is something I will cherish forever. I
am so proud of each and every one of them.”

Adding to the team’s success, Marcella George advanced to the semifinals in individual role play, while Jack Sandvig reached the quarterfinals in role play and the finals in speed sales.

Teammates Ava Wayne and James Simle-Askew also made significant contributions by competing in the opening rounds and managing the team’s social media presence, a role that earned the team an additional accolade.

“UND taking home the overall championship was an incredible way to top off the weekend,” said Mumm, speaking of the championship moment.

“We went in with our heads high and just hoping for the best, but we walked out with more than we could have ever imagined. The growth we saw in each other, the experience we gained, and the support we had for one another is something we will carry with us forever.

“We are so grateful to Nistler for the opportunities and support they provide us with.”

UND’s performance at this competition highlights the high standards set by the sales program, and aims to inspire future students to pursue excellence in sales leadership and strategic communication.
